Open the Bottle - 2021 Four Roses Small Batch Limited Edition Bourbon

Open the Bottle - 2021 Four Roses Small Batch Limited Edition Bourbon

Wow! I had high hopes for this bourbon especially after paying $200 for the bottle and my hopes have been exceeded. This is just an amazing bottle of bourbon! I know that's a lot of money for whiskey but if ever a bottle deserved a premium price, this one does.

This year's limited edition small batch bourbon from Four Roses is non-chill filtered and bottled at a 114.2 proof and features a 16-year-old Bourbon from the OBSV recipe, a 14-year-old OBSQ, a 12-year-old OESK, and a 16-year-old OESV. I can't keep all of those recipes straight but I'm glad that Master Distiller, Brent Elliott, and his team at Four Roses can.

To the question, can the Small Batch Select hold its own at $60 against this Limited Edition release? We'll, it holds its own but its own just isn't in the same realm and I don't think that's a bad thing. Given the price and scarcity, a limited edition release should be much better than more commonly available expressions, shouldn't it? I stand by my assertion that the Four Roses Small Batch Select is one of the best bottles of bourbon available today under $100 but the 2021 Small Batch Limited Edition is just something special. If you have the means, do not pass it up. Cheers!
