Back to the Bottle - All of the Russell's Reserve Whiskey and All of the Wild Turkey too!

I want everyone - except whiskey geeks who would drive the price up - to drink Wild Turkey produced whiskey. From Wild Turkey 101, through all of the Russell's Reserve expressions of bourbon and rye whiskies, and up to the Master's Keep releases, it is all just wonderful whiskey. And most of the time, you don't have to worry about it not being available. Sure, some of the Master's Keep releases are hard to find but I don't worry about that. Why? Well, they are good but they aren't $100+ better than their standard Wild Turkey or Russell's Reserve counterpart. I had a bottle of the Wild Turkey Master's Keep Cornerstone Rye. It was fantastic but in no way was it $100 better than the Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Rye whiskey I can buy any day of the week so why would I care that I'll never get another? I don't.

Wild Turkey 101 Rye is outstanding and even won some awards recently in blind tastings. It's $25 for a 750 and $40 for a liter, tastes wonderful neat or on the rocks, and makes delicious Old Fashioneds, Red Hooks, and Manhattans. Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon is my baseline from which all other bourbons are judged. Not better or more enjoyable than a $22 bottle, why would I buy it?

What do you think? Am I crazy? Or crazy like a fox drinking better whiskey for less money?

Cheers!
